During the pandemic John has greatly enjoyed playing jazz on the keyboard for several small groups and singers, using the new software tools, Jamulus and Sonobus, to reduce latency. He has also enjoyed creating backing tracks (using Cubase) and singing himself at Zoom open mics etc..

John decided to retire from his position as church organist at St. Clements Church Notting Hill late last year, thus freeing himself up for other musical pursuits on a Sunday, particularly jazz.

In recent weeks he has played for a number of open mic events (the most recent has been a session at the King’s Head, Crouch End) as well as providing accompaniment and coaching for various individual singers.
